I started this blog as a way to engage with global big ideas and my community at the same time. In amongst the dire warnings in the traditional press and conspiracy theories in new media, there are exciting new ideas that have the potential to make the world better. I hope to bring these big ideas home.

My objective is to synthesise new ideas and trends in social life and human progress, and discuss what they mean for my community here in Cleveland and Brisbane.

I call my blog “I can say that” because I am not afraid to challenge accepted wisdom and the status quo (not because I aspire to be a provocateur).

I hope my blog can foster reasoned and respectful debate. Inspired by Stephen Pinker and his books, I am committed to furthering reason, science, humanism and progress in my community and the world.
